Mr. D.K. Shetty completed his bachelor in Chemical Engineering from the prestigious Manipal Institute of Technology. Post his graduation he worked with Thermax in Pune in their Water Treatment unit for 5 years. In 1983, he moved to Mumbai to start his own business and founded Windsor Refractories Ltd in 1985.
Windsor was one of the largest stockist traders of ACC Refractories & was involved in the installation jobs of Refractories in Refineries, Petrochemical & Fertilizer Industry. His determination, Hard work, perseverance & consistent attitude propelled Windsor to grow within a short span of time.
In 1996, he acquired Refractory Shapes Ltd (RSPL) in Pune to become a manufacturer. RSPL was already established in 1973 and was a well-known manufacturer of Refractory Bricks, Castables, etc.
He further expanded the manufacturing unit by purchasing adjacent properties and increased his manufacturing capacity and adding new materials in the product range. He also expanded the in-house testing laboratory and made it full-fledged to test all the parameters in house. This led to an added advantage to enhance R&D facilities to manufacture custom made products for clients as per their requirement.
In 2007, Windsor & RSPL was registered by Engineers India Limited which opened many opportunities to execute OEM projects especially SRU projects. He was instrumental in developing proprietary items for Steel companies namely PCPF blocks, Burner Blocks & Refractory Coating Material which are giving unmatched performance.
In 2020, to further increase the manufacturing capacity, he setup a new factory in Wankaner Gujarat to cater to the vast order book of Refractory Shapes Ltd and further expansion is planned. In the last 10 years alone, the annual turnover has increased more than 5 times under his leadership.
Starting from humble beginnings as a trader, Mr. D.K. Shetty has led the company to achieve exponential growth. He has inspired & motivated many working with him to lead the company with consistent hard work, dedication & determination. He is still an invaluable asset in leading the company towards further R&D to introduce new technology in Refractories.
